TIG Manual

The TIG Manual is the foundation of TIG training.  Ever changing, the Manual includes all of the training modules, including PowerPoints and handouts.  Successful completion of TIG training, that takes place over a one year period, ensures that all participants have a common knowledge base and philosophy.

The Manual includes information from the six modules of the Core Curriculum:

Grief & Loss

Trauma

Suicide Risk & Intervention

Illness & Injury

School Violence

Module I: Grief and Loss at School

Grief and Loss at School is the first module of TIG training.  This module is the foundation for understanding the benefits of dealing with loss and grief at school.  Through exercises, videos, and discussion, participants will gain an understanding of factors that influence the grief response, needs of the grieving student, the role of school personnel, and modifications for students.

In addition, this module addresses compassion fatigue and the importance of adopting Commemoration Guidelines.
