Deb Salamone established her career as a School Counselor in the Greece Central School District where she worked for 20 years as an elementary counselor, high school counselor, and most recently, as the District Counselor. During this time, Deb engaged closely with administration, staff, students and parents providing consultation, facilitation, and training in the areas of trauma sensitive schools, compassion fatigue and self-care, ACES and resiliency, mindfulness, mental health, suicide prevention and PBIS. Deb was also the district’s Trauma, Illness and Grief (TIG) Coordinator. In this role Deb led the Greece TIG team’s responses to large and small-scale crisis events and supported the maintenance of the specialized skills team members required for effective responses. In addition, Deb brings an extensive background that includes Culturally Responsive Education, multi-tiered systems of support, best practices in student attendance initiatives, and working with youth and families in poverty as well as leading the implementation of the New York State School Counselor regulations. Deb’s passion to create environments that allow both youth and adults to thrive, continues to be at the heart of her work. Deb received her BS in Psychology at SUNY Geneseo followed by her MS in Education in Counseling at the College of St. Rose.
